Mandatory Requirements 

Applications that do not meet one or more criteria will not be considered:

Citizenship and Residency:
  • All applicants must hold Kenyan citizenship, including dual citizens.
  • Applicants residing in Kenya must be studying and complete their high school education in Kenya.
  • Applicants residing and studying outside of Kenya may apply via the UWC Kenya National Committee only, but not apply via other application channels concurrently.
Education Level attained by Sept 2025:
Applicants may apply from all recognised educational backgrounds, including homeschooling. Successful completion and graduation will be required as below: 
  • 8-4-4 curriculum - Form 4 (K.C.S.E)
  • Cambridge IGCSE curriculum - Year 11
  • American curriculumGrade 10 
  • International Baccalaureate  - Year 10 (MYP 5)
  • German School - Grade 10 
  • Homeschooling -  equivalent as above based on curriculum 
Applicant age requirement:
  • Applicants must be aged no less than 16 and no more than 18 years of age in the year they are planning to attend UWC - by 1st September 2025. 
Consent and Conflict of Interest:
  • Applicants who have previously applied or are currently applying to UWC, either via the Global Selection Programme (GSP) or via a National Committee in another country, must provide this information at the time of application. Failure to do so will result in a cancelled application.
  • Applicants must communicate with their parent(s) or guardian(s) on their intention to apply to the UWC and submit a consent form signed by all parent(s) or guardian(s). 

FAQ

Q1. Can I submit my application if I do not meet one or more items on the Eligibility Criteria?

All applications must meet all items on the Eligibility Criteria for the application to be considered. 

Q2: Can I submit my application if I am older or younger than the age requirement by a few days, weeks or months? 

All applicants must fall within the specified age requirement.

Q3: Are scholarships available and guaranteed? 

All applications will be considered on a need-blind basis. Financial declarations and assessments will be conducted for all successful applications to match any available full or partial scholarships based on demonstrated need only.  Fees structure available here - https://www.uwc.org/ibdp/fees-and-scholarships

Q4: What curriculum is offered at UWC? 

All UWC Schools and Colleges offer the 2-year International Baccalaureate Diploma (I.B). This is NOT a University or College degree or diploma. Students will apply to and attend university or college after successful completion of the 2-year I.B. and UWC programs. 

Q5: Can I select a specific UWC School that I want to apply to?

Applicants via UWC Kenya National Committee cannot choose the UWC school they wish to attend. The Global Selections Programme (GSP) is available for applicants that wish to apply to a specific UWC.
